Pengalaman Kerja Pertama di Jerman

Today is a historical day. Yes, this is my first working day. After receiving separated tax card, no longer under my hubby, I am eligible to work now. Indeed this won't be a real work. Only part timer. But anyway for me who is longing to go back to work, it would be nice experience. Isn't it?. I just got the chance to have part time job from my german course friend, Fetime. Her husband is running a small Döner Kebap nearby my appartment. Fetime herself is also working in this "imbis" (imbis can be translated as cafeteria) as a general helper. I will do more or less the same, general helper, or if you want to call as 'dish washer' or 'plongeur' that sound more real.
So what am I waiting for just get ready right ?. I got up early today, prepared some breakfast for my hubby and kids, then I went to my work. Yeah, this is not a real job, as "tukang cuci piring". I will not expect more. The good thing is I work with my friend.

After having some orientation on the "geography" of the kitchen. I started working, putting all dirty dishes into the machine, clean the pots and pans, dried them up and arrange on the shelf for the next use. I just knew that the life of this kind of food stall begins at lunch time. It was really busy, plates, cuttlery went to and fro many times from kitchen to the table. Surprisingly they plates have been surviving for long time in this harsh environment for glassware.

Small food stall but but very busy, particularly it serves many students.

I really enjoyed my first day working, even we are behind the scene, means all the time in the washing section. Fetime was happy working with me, I felt a bit strange for being colleague of her, and our boss is her husband.

In the afternoon, we had a tea with the chef, with some food that served speceally for us. I was not having an appetite at the thought that I have seen so many kebabs remains thrown away into the garbage bin. In the end Fetimes husband handed me an envelop of my one day wage. During conversation he seemed he is happy with the present of me, helping his poor wife. Many times he said "Evet" (evet means yes or OK in Turkish).

On the way back home I opened the package, wow I see two bills of 20 euro. OK, I have worked 5 hours today, it should have been 8 euros per hour then.I am a bit proud, get my own money after some years under my hubbys charity.  I just recall when I was working in Jakarta as bank officer, those days I have dealt with people who brought 8 to 10 digits rupiah. Hm, how fast the old time has gone.

I am home now and see some dirty dishes pile up on the basin. It will be another round of cleaning.
